When the Spirit of God acts in a way that seems contrary to our human expectations, does the character of God come into question? Humanity has seemed to lose respect for God’s perfect holiness. We have the option to choose life, or choose death. When Peter & John were imprisoned for preaching, an angel of the Lord released them from prison only to tell them to continue to preach about this new life. Death on the front end of Acts 5, and new life at the closing. Which will you choose? Choose life, there is more blessing that way.

Pastor Reid Olson of Crossroads Church of Greeley teaches Acts 3. The healing of the lame beggar man takes precedent in the narrative, but what happens around the event is astounding. The healing took place “outside” the temple gate. The impact of this means that God’s Kingdom work is beginning to move outside the temple walls. God’s Kingdom is on the move, like lava moving down a mountain; no one can contain it’s flow. We learn through Acts 3 that God’s Spirit is on the move and He brings healing, wholeness and joy as a result. Acts 3:19 says when we repent of our sin, times of refreshing will come from God. I hope you find your times of refreshing when you walk away from your sin-filled life.
Chapter 2 talks about the beginning of the church as the Holy Spirit is given to people. So often we look at Acts 2 merely as the beginning of the church, which is important, but we can easily miss the character of God displayed through His supernatural generosity, His supernatural boldness, leading us to supernatural repentance, and creates a supernatural community as a result. Join us as we look deeper into Acts 2.
As we look through the Book of Acts, we pay attention to the true character of God. We look to the character of God so that we have a firm foundation to stand on when all around us is crumbling. Join us each week as we walk through the Book of Acts together.
Comparison is a killer. It kills your joy, it kills relationships, it kills marriages, it kills your purposes in the world. Why? Comparison is an open admission to God that you’re not happy with who He made you to be, and you wish you were like someone else. There may be something called healthy competition, or challenge to grow stronger, but the negative side of challenge is comparison. Don’t compare yourself to others, it leads only to pride, or to resentment.
We have lost enough battles to over fear, but we cannot lose the war. You don’t have to live a life of fear any longer. God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, of love, and a sound mind. It’s time to use that sound mind to overcome fear in life. Fear grows when we give it power. You no longer need to be afraid. Stand courageous before the Lord and let His grace empower you.
