Jacob led a life of deception, lies, trickery and dishonesty, yet God wanted to use him anyways. God met with Jacob on the shores of Jabbok river, and got Jacob’s attention in a very real way. Dislocation of the hip is one of the most painful experiences in my life personally, and would be in your life too. Jacob needed a wake up call to become humbled in the service to the Lord. Join us as we learn about humility.

Sometimes we get confused in our faith with God. Once in a while we lose perspective, and forget that God did all the work for our faith. Remember; our job is to be transformed through the work of Christ, not the work we do to make God happy. Paul the Apostle taught us that his calling was to glorify God and share the Good News of the Gospel, in spite of himself. Follow along with us as we see God’s role in our character development; being before doing.
We see the character of God through our acts of obedience. The Apostle Peter was summoned from Joppa to Caesarea so he could meet with Cornelius and his family. Cornelius was the first Gentile to receive the Holy Spirit and later began a church in that town. The Church of God is moving out of the Jewish community of faith toward the “ends of the earth” through expansion. Join us as look at how our obedience to the Spirit of God matters for issues of living well in the Kingdom of God. How have you put up a wall and excluded people from the Kingdom of God, rather than act in obedience to include more people?
When the early church faced persecution, they were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria. Once scattered, the church began preaching the gospel of Jesus and the church began to expand. Often, when we go through something difficult in life, we tend to think God has forgotten about us, or that God isn’t paying attention. What would happen if we changed our perspective about bad things and said, “God has a better plan in mind than I do.”? No matter the difficulties we face, we are challenged to preach the word of God wherever we go. Are you up for the challenge?
Sometimes Christians can clip the wings of the Wild Goose (Holy Spirit) and limit God’s work in the world through our disobedience to Him. When was the last time you responded well to the prompting of the Holy Spirit?
A serious issue of favoritism and neglect breaks out in the early church when the widows of one community are being overlooked in the distribution of food. Seems simple enough. The Twelve come together and make a leadership decision that begins a new trajectory in the early Church about how to delegate and choose leaders for a task. How do you choose people to hire in your company? How do you represent yourself when seeking employment? These leadership events that occurred in Acts 6 are enlightening enough to our faith, that they model Godly character for us to live by.
