Faith in Trials; 1 Peter

Pastor Reid Olson of Crossroads Church of Greeley teaches on BEING DIFFERENT.

bike-crash

God has called His people to a different kind of life than the world. The Apostle Peter tells us throughout 1 Peter, that we are foreigners living in a world that is not our home. How do you look at trials differently than the world looks at trials? We all face terrible things in our lives, but as followers of Jesus, we are called to respond differently. How is your faith being proved genuine?

When God seems Cold Hearted

Pastor Reid Olson of Crossroads Church of Greeley teaches on peoples’ misconception of God’s character when He seems cold hearted.

dont give_up

When God doesn’t answer prayers; when God let’s trouble come; when God allows suffering, it seems so unfair. Isn’t God the omniscient Heavenly Father who is supposed to shield us from all trouble, heartache and pain? Maybe we have the formula all wrong about God. Maybe we go through suffering so that we see God’s purpose in our pain, or find God’s presence in our pain, or better yet, become more persistent through the midst of pain. Don’t give up when things get rough, in fact, look for God all the more. He’s right there with you, in it all, and through it all.

Seeking All the God-Feelings

Pastor Reid Olson of Crossroads Church of Greeley teaches on only seeking feels from God.

feelingsDo you find yourself wanting more emotional connection with God? Sometimes we seek after something emotional, or tingly feelings from God, rather than seeking the truth of God’s character. We live in a society now that is so emotionally driven, fake news or real, that we miss what God’s character is really like. Did you know that the Bible is not primarily emotionally satisfying? Did you know that Jesus didn’t ever ask someone how they “felt” about obeying God? God doesn’t ask us how we feel about walking with Him, He expects us to walk by faith.

Faithful in Service

Pastor Reid Olson of Crossroads Church of Greeley teaches on being more faithful in serving others.serve

Jesus tells us to deny ourselves, take up our cross and follow him. We like the following part, but find it harder to do the “deny ourselves” part. Sometimes when we give of our time to others and serve them, we reap a reward of God’s blessing. We walk with God to learn how to give more service away and honor God by blessing others.

Reflecting Jesus; More of a Witness

Pastor Reid Olson of Crossroads Church of Greeley teaches on being bolder in sharing your faith.

microphone

All of us talk boldly about what we believe strongly, already. But many followers of Jesus don’t share their personal faith with others. For some reason we feel inadequate, or incapable, or not compassionate enough. Whatever your reason, it’s easier to share your faith than you realize. All we need to do is “meet a need” for someone today. Maybe they sense distance from God and don’t need a lecture, rather, they need love from someone who cares for them. My prayer is that you would learn to share your faith more boldly, by meeting someone’s need today.

What Did You Expect?

Pastor Reid Olson of Crossroads Church of Greeley teaches on Luke 24:1-10.resurrection-jesus

The women go to the tomb of Jesus to prepare his body with spices, and they find the stone rolled away, the tomb empty and angels approach. The angels said, “Jesus is not here. Why do you look for the living among the dead?” What did you expect to happen? Jesus wasn’t expected to die, and then once dead, Jesus wasn’t expected to come back to life. How does your life relate to the resurrection of Jesus from the dead? You no longer need to live a “dead” existence. You can have life today, with the same power God gave to raise Jesus from the dead.
