Oh Come All Ye Faithful

Pastor Reid Olson of Crossroads Church of Greeley teaches on the Christmas Carol;

Oh-Come-All-Ye-Faithful-1-1

Oh Come All Ye Faithful. Sometimes we don’t feel very faithful, or very joyful or triumphant in our walk with God. There are even more people who don’t even feel like coming to God to approach Him. What do we do to move beyond our feelings about not approaching God? Can there be a better solution than ignoring God’s call? God sent His only Son, Jesus, to be born in Bethlehem, in an animal stable of all things, and God invited the lowly shepherds to the party first. What a better picture of God reaching out to those of us who don’t feel faithful, joyful or triumphant in life. God wants you. God came for you. Won’t you come to Bethlehem to see this one, born king of the angels? God is waiting for you to come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant.

Jesus Breaks Bread With People

Crossroads Church of Greeley http://www.crossroadsgreeley.com

Pastor Reid Olson of Crossroads Church of Greeley teaches on Acts 2:42-47.

love like jesus

The example of Jesus to the world through the church is through fellowship, gathering, serving and forgiving one another. You can participate in the will of God by eating meals with others. God isn’t asking us to judge the character of another person before having a conversation with them, which is easy to do, God is asking us to fellowship with people so that the light of God might shine more brightly in the world. You have a responsibility to love the world the way Jesus loved the world. You and I can show the love of God by being the light of Christ in relationships and eating meals with others. God expects us not to live life in a bubble away from the world, but to be in the world with those who need God’s love.

Jesus Taught Us To Forgive, How’s That Working Out For You?

Pastor Reid Olson of Crossroads Church of Greeley teaches on Matthew 6:14-15.

Jesus taught us to forgive others, so that the Heavenly Father can forgive us.

coffee spill

Jesus doesn’t ask us how we “feel” about this conditional statement in his sermon on the mount. In fact, most of the Bible doesn’t ask the reader how we feel about what God says. In light of that, how is forgiveness working out in your life? Are you one who holds a grudge? Are you letting the evil stored up in your heart spill out onto others, or are good things spilling out of your life? When God asks us to forgive others who offend us, think politics, think personal offenses, think mistakes made … He is asking our hearts to be in line with His heart, since God forgave us more than we could ever ask.

Let’s put it this way, maybe you only have to forgive others, as much as God as already forgiven you … that’s all. If we can figure out how to forgive, then our capacity to love will be even greater still. Let’s walk in the wholeness and grace of God’s forgiveness, which spills out onto others.

What Do You Have In Your House?

Reverend David Husby, Director of Covenant World Relief, teaches on 2 Kings 4:1-7 where Elisha asks the desperate widow, “What do you have in your house”?

The Lord is asking you and me the same question when it comes to loving our neighbors, “What do you have in your house, to help one another”? You and I have a part to play in helping the gospel of Jesus Christ advance in the world. We work with our neighbors to provide long lasting transformational work in underdeveloped communities. Covenant World Relief is a partner organization with Serve Globally, a wing of the Evangelical Covenant Denomination.

The Priestly Blessing

Pastor Reid Olson of Crossroads Church of Greeley teaches on “The Priestly Blessing”.

PriestlyBlessingNumbers 6:22-27. What does this Blessing mean and why did God have it said over the Israelites every day for 40 years? You’ve heard the blessing, “May the Lord bless you and keep you, make his face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you, may the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace”. When you hear this, do you know the root of the meanings of the verbs? Did you know that the “you” is singular in original Hebrew, not “all y’all”, so it means that God is speaking over individuals. We are exploring the Priestly Blessing over God’s people.

Pride Issues Need to Die

Crossroads Church of Greeley

Pastor Reid Olson of Crossroads Church of Greeley teaches on the issue of Pride.

humility

The church has gotten away with pride for too long. Scripture teaches the Church, quite clearly, to put aside issues of pride. We are to lean on humility and grace. In fact, God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble. How are you working on identifying pride in your life, and working on eliminating it from your every day life? God calls us to humility because we cannot both worship God and worship self at the same time. Let’s grow in humility.
